The Müllheizkraftwerk (MHKW) Rothensee waste incineration plant in Magdeburg operates induced draft (ID) fans essential to plant operation. These fans are responsible for extracting flue gases from the boiler—without them, the entire power station would come to a halt.
When looking for a drive solution for the 2,6MW ID fan, the plant needed a partner they could trust. Having worked with CG Drives & Automation for years, Rothensee chose to rely on our MV drive offering for a new power plant block.
With decades of expertise in drive systems, we now bring the same trusted reliability and customer focus to the MV segment—offering comprehensive support from specification and selection to installation, commissioning, and service.
CG Drives & Automation delivered a 2.6 MW MV drive with both 10kV input and output, housed in air-cooled IP31 cabinets—providing a rugged and reliable system fit for the demanding environment. The MV drive has now been in stable operation since the start of 2025, demonstrating the quality and reliability of our solution.
In order to meet the requirements of the surrounding circumstances, an MV drive was the most cost-effective and technically sound option.
Unlike many low voltage suppliers who cannot support MV systems, CG Drives & Automation brings a holistic understanding.
This expertise was crucial in Rothensee’s project, where specific knowledge was required for integrating the MV drive into the plant’s control system.
Supplying an MV drive isn’t something just any drive supplier can do. It requires more than just selling hardware—it demands a deeper understanding of how the entire power chain works.
